My active interest in petroleum prices began in the fall of 2005, after Hurricane Katrina. The retail price of gasoline in my area exceeded $3 per gallon for the first time in my life. At times such as those, you can count on the Main Stream Media to report the record profits of evil big oil, and that some Congress critter will hold a press conference demanding investigations.
As an energy consumer, I decided to learn more about how the market worked. MY wife and I run two cars, heat our house with oil, and use gobs of electricity, mostly from coal fired power plants.
Having learned a bit in the past couple years, I'll endeavor to share my new found knowledge.
